recover stuck on starting UEFI loader
I'm trying to recover my computer using a Acronis backup file on my external HD; however, when it starts to recover, it says I need to restart and when I OK, I get a popup saying the Acronis boot media failed. Then I tried to manually restart and got to a screen where it said "starting Acronis UEFI Loader". Nothing happened after that; how to fix?

My computer is W10 with UEFI; how do I disable Secure Boot? Thanks.

Thomas, see webpage: Disabling Secure Boot for an example of doing this, but the actual steps depend on your computer / BIOS etc.
See webpage: How do I disable UEFI Secure Boot? for an alternative description with some screen images.

I see all kinds of warnings that disabling Secure boot may lead to windows not able to start without it.
I started this thread after I had a computer meltdown and was trying to recover my system using Acronis TI 2012. It doesn't seem right to have to do all these extra steps to accomplish that. Isn't True Image compatible with W10 and with current computers that use UEFI? Maybe I need to get a newer version of TI?

Thomas, there is a difference here between disabling Secure Boot for the purpose of booting your older ATI 2012 Rescue Media (which is Linux based) and leaving Secure Boot disabled for when booting your computer into Windows.
The issue here (for the Rescue Media) is the fact of Secure Boot not liking some Linux OS boot media.
ATI 2012 does support UEFI as documented in KB 5684: EFI-based operating systems support in Acronis products but that does not mean that Secure Boot will allow the Linux rescue media to work.
The latest ATI 2018 product creates Windows PE Rescue Media by default which does fully support both UEFI and Secure Boot being enabled.
