Recovering a disk with a hidden partition - not sure if I made it properly ?

Thread needs solution

Hello everybody. I would like to hear some suggestions from experienced users, whether I made it right.

Recently I bought a Dell Latitude E6530 laptop which came with a 500 GB HGST hard disk. It came with 3 partitions (40 MB hidden service partition, 750 MB recovery partition and a system partition, the only one with a letter: "C" (Windows 7 Professional X64).

What I wanted to do was to transfer the original layout, size and partition offset from a source (HDD) to the target (SSD) in an attempt to retain proper partion(s) alignment. The target was Mushkin 240 GB SSD (MKNSSD240GB-DX) which consisted of unallocated space. The complete recovery procedure was accomplished by Acronis recovery (startup) disk.

I carefully read and followed the instructions as written in a topic "4.5.1 Recovering a disk with a hidden partition" on page 90 in ATIH2013_user guide.

I started by making a full Acronis image of the laptop hard disk using the Acronis True Image Home 2013. The image was created on a separate hard disk in an external eSATA enclosure. The original layout of partitions can be seen on pictures 4 (as seen from ATIH when making an image), 1 (as seen from Msinfo32.exe), 2 (as seen in Win 7 disk management) and 3 (as seen from ATIH recovery disk).

Following the instructions I came to Partition settings for Partition "V" (a hidden service partiton) (picture 5). It was the first partition in the image. On that screen I tried to enter the values for Partition size (39.19 MB) and starting offset (32.256 bytes) as indicated by Msinfo32.exe. However, the Acronis did not accept these values which were entered directly in the appropriate fields and rather forced the values shown on picture 5. I accepted these values and also accepted the defaults for the remaining two partitions, finished the recovery and in a second step recovered the MBR with Track 0 and disk signature too.

I swapped the HDD with the SSD, and successfully booted to Win 7 without problems. However, checking the alignment of partitions on SSD, revealed that recovery and system partition were properly aligned, while the hidden service partition was not. Unfortunately I did not check if it was originally aligned in a source HDD.

Did I make some mistake ?
