Recovering a tib file onto a soild state drive

Thread needs solution

Hi

I am trying to install a tib file onto a soild state drive but it happens unsucessfully.

The OS i have backed up in CentOS 5.4 x86_64

I have Acronis true image 11, I choose option 3 [apci =off].

I go through the recovery screens and when the recovery process happens, after 10 - 15 minutes or so Acronis comes back saying "ERROR: Disk is full" But I had chose "Overwrite all existing files" on a option before.

I did it again after formatting my soild state disk. It seemed to work but when I load the OS from the disk it doesnt seem to boot. Just says GRUB forever. I believe the recovery process copied the folders and files over but not the boot sector.

And on both progresses none of the green bars appear to state how long the progress has left.

Note: I backed up the TIB file with the same version

Hello Chris,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad you joined us.

I regret to inform you that Acronis True Image Home 11 officially doesn't support Linux distribution and SSD, was never tested with it, and we cannot guarantee that your CentOS will be properly restored and will be able to boot after the restoration.

Right now we can at least try to bring your OS up. In case you are moving the system from IDE/HDD onto the SSD you will have to prepare the system before booting up. Please take a look at these instructions.

In case it won't help we will not be able to provide you with alternative solution since Acronis True Image Home 11 is an outdated version and not supposed to work in this environment. Should you need to backup and restore Linux OS, we can suggest you Acronis Backup and Recovery for Linux. You can test the solution here to see whether it suits you. Trial version is full functional and doesn't have any limitations except:

  • 15 days of work
  • trial bootable media can restore only

You can test the backup and recovery with the demo version to see whetehr it work. Please kindly pay attention that SDD is currently supported with some limitations and you need to prepare the target drive. Feel free to check this KB article for more details.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
