recovery after disk replacement

Thread needs solution

I just had my internal hard drive replaced.

I loaded Windows 7.  Then I loaded Acronis 2015.  Then I tried to recover  from my last backup.  I selected "entire system."  Acronis let me select my last backup on my external drive as the recovery source but it refuses to allow me to select the C: drive as the target.  It insists that the target be the external drive.

Any help appreciated.

Oh, one other thing.  Windows is running under VMware on a Mac. But I have had no problem using Acronis to create backups on that configuration.

I had to do full disk restore a few times the last few weeks. C drive you see might not be what you think will end up as your C drive. If you can see your target drive, regardless of the assigned/visible drive letter, use that instead.

Somewhere in the help file it explains the reason why. I looked for it but could not find it. It might have been when you click on the Help icon on the target selection window during the restore.

Hope it helps.
