Recovery Hangs

Thread needs solution

Trying to recover a laptop which completely crashed due to a virus - Dell 1525 w/ Vista using the Bootable Rescue CD. I have 3 archives and they all hang with, like with 17 or 34 minutes left, for example.
I am using True Image Home upgrade V10 build 4942. I can view the archives on a desktop and I can see all the folders and files, so I feel confident the archives are OK.
I know the recovery process works with this build on another desktop.
Please help.
Kind Regards

Have you tried using the ISO bootable media version you can download from your Acronis account?

You might also try doing the restore with the TI 2010 trial version.

I am going to try this. I have seen suggestions like this on the old forum. I have downloaded the iso image and will burn it very soon. Thanks, I'll let post back later one way or another. Thanks.

I used a recovery cd burned from the .iso, and the recovery hung after a few hours with 37 minutes remaining.

Do you mean did I validate when I did the backup? No
Do you mean can I see the files and folder contents using the 'Explore' before the recovery? Yes on another system. The HD on the laptop is empty.

I mean did you boot to the TI CD on the computer used for the restore and use TI to validate the images? This would verify that TI could read them correctly when booted to the CD. It's just a troubleshooting step to find out if the problem is with reading the images or with writing to the other drive.

I was able to do a full recovery using the T.I. Home version 11 of the recovery CD. Apparently the T.I. home v 10 build 4942 recovery CD is not compatible with Vista. Using this v11 it did not hang during the recovery.
I wish to thank Yana for the very special assistance that was provided.
