Removing backups

Thread needs solution

In ATI 2015, how do I remove old backups? I'm using incremental backup with a full backup after 5 incremental ones. If I simply delete the first set of 6, the programme blows up

Stop using the old task and create a new task, but the new task should be matched to my GH12 example but with your settings.
For simplicity and to avoid confusion, both the new task name and storage folder (or sub-folder) name should be a new unused name.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. ...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

Set your settings to be Full after 5 incrmentals (your chain length becomes 6 tib files--Full + 5 incremental )
Set "Store x number of recent version chains" to be your choice of number of chains retained.. X is the number of chains (6 fles per chain) retained.

Once the program reaches your "Store X number of recent version chains, as each new future FULL is created, the oldest chain (6 files) will be auto-deleted. Much like an escalator. As each new full is added, the oldest chain (6 files) is deleted.

Retention examples: If
x to be 1. After Full B2 created. Auto delete of oldest chain B1 (oldest 6 tib fies) will occur. Keeps remaining Full B2 with additional new inc backups to be added when due.
x to be 2. After Full B3 created. Auto delete of oldest chain B1 (oldest 6 tib fies) will occur. Keeps remaining Chain B2 (6 FILES) plus Full #B3 with additional backup to be added when due.
x to be 3. After Full B4 created. Auto delete of oldest chain B1 (oldest 6 tib fies) will occur. Keeps remaining Chain B2 and Chain B3 (12 FILES) plus Full #B4 with additional backup to be added when due.
