removing TIH also disabled Windows 7 backup & restore; how do I get it back?
Last week I abandoned our Acronis True Image Home 2011 backup and restore program because it was eating up too much of our external hard drive on the weekly backups. I went to our Windows 7 backup program and backed up, using the default settings.
I was a bit suspicious when there was no indication of the backup progress, but the external hard drive was doing its thing so I let it go. I also set it up to back up our files every Sunday at 10 a.m. Today it seemed to back things up, but again there was no way for me to track the backup’s progress.
When it was all done, I thought I’d better check so I went to the control panel and clicked on “backup and restore.” Nothing happened. I rebooted the computer and tried again. Nothing. When I click on the “backup and restore” link, absolutely nothing happens. It’s as though the backup software is not on our Windows 7 Professional software.
A Microsoft forum indicated this is a problem known to Acronis and is caused when the Acronis Trui Image Home program is deleted. It said there is a hack (?) to fix the problem. What’s a hack? How can I repair this problem?
Thanks.
