Rename existing backup

Thread needs solution

There doesn't seem to be a simple Rename function for existing backups. When using "recreate backup settings" the name changes but it uses the default drive on the computer at the time. These backups are from another computer and the original drive is not a choice. Is there a simple remame the backup in the backup list that I'm not aware of ? Thanks

I wouldn't rename an existing task. The product allows for a user to change the task name, but that won't change the TIB files. The product allows to change the TIB name when updating the destination, and keeps track of changes. But in both cases, this can create user confusion about what files maps to which task.

I wouldn't rename existing backup files (not active task) if they are part of a chain.

You can rename manually existing bull backup files (not active tasks), then let ATI rediscover them.

OK. I've tried using the "Move" option and changing the name in the window where you select the destination but the new name is ignored and it simply moves the files with their original name? I thought it would allow changing the name with the move?

Norman,

Yes, I tried the Move feature of 2013 and I also found the lack of renaming disconcerting and dangerous. The Move function doesn't rename the moved files, but new backups will take the new name.

Thre was an article in Acronis 2015 forum that advised that this can be done but you had toedit one of the files in the program. I c
