Rescue media doesn't see my USB drives
The last time I created bootable media it could see my USB drives. Since then there's been an update and the new version no longer sees my USB drives. Or at least it sees the thumb drive it's booting off but not the external HDDs.
It's late here so I'm going to bed but it'd be really nice if there was a simple explanation and simple fix by the time I woke up. All I can tell you at the moment is that it's an atom based machine and the USB drivers are labelled Texas Instruments xHCI Driver v1.12.9 ( WHQL - Multilanguage ).exe.
Alternatively I could restore from Windows 7 Safe mode if that's supported. Unfortunately I tried and just a failure dialog :-/

It's TIH2011 with the update from earlier this year.
Thanks for your response. I figured it out this morning - just before you posted actually :)
Basically I just have to wait a minute or two after the wizard has launched and then it starts scanning the USB drives. Just another golden moment courtesy of Acronis :(
At least it proves it can still do what it needs to since my server is now back up but it's not very helpful when you're desperately trying to recover a machine. If I'd known about that I could have got my server back in time to have a decent night's sleep. Oh and as usual the wizard was dog slow. It took it four minutes 20 seconds (yes I went back and timed it) to display the list of partitions. The machine has an internal SSD and two external drives. Greased lightening it isn't :(
But..the emergency is over thanks. Now I just have to figure out why Windows update screwed my machine up again. That's the second time in a year I think. Safe mode+Networking worked but booting normally couldn't load the desktop and the machine wouldn't respond to pings. Unfortunately after restoring it applied some updates so it's anyone's guess how long it will run.

Be sure you plug in your USB before booting up the bootCD. Also, check out the user guide re startup parameters one of them re USB might be helpful http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ for example relying onthe BIOS for SUB support instead of the linux drivers on the bootcd.

The external drives are never removed. The only reason they are external is because the machine is a Fit-PC and the case is too small to contain anything more than a single 2" laptop drive.
I'll have a look through the documentation but for now at least I've managed my second restore so job done. It's just a shame that added to the stress of a downed server was the stress of trying to get Acronis to do what I wanted.
