[RESOLVED] "The last backup was canceled by timeout"
"The last backup was canceled by timeout" (exact spelling from the error notice). Why won't Acronis finish a backup? I have attempted two overnight backups and both were cancelled.
Issue resolved here.

I got the same error message on my 1st backup using 2013 with add-on pack.

Alan,
Have you checked the log file for that specific task to see what information is provided as to the cause?
Had this task every been used before to create other backups?
Often times, the best and quickest solution is simply to create a new task and cease to use the old task.
Editing a task can cause similar difficulties. If changes to ta task are needed, I find it quicker to create a new task rather than waste time troubleshooting an issue which I cannot correct.

Normally timeout failures during a scheduled un-attended backup are the result of the program stopping and waiting for user interaction, and then timing out after no response is given by the user. If you take a look at the logs, they may provide some clue as to why the program terminted the backup.

I'm having the same problem, when I'm backing up to a network drive, but not when I'm backing up locally.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

Thanks! That seems to have solved the problem!
It's working fine now!

Good to know, thanks for posting.
Acronis True Image is not the only application that needs a proper UNC path. I recall working with some file sharing software for many users in an office LAN. The application kept failing until I used a UNC path to address the network locations. I suspect it's because a friendly mapped path has a layer of abstraction or mapping provided by Windows, whereas the UNC path is more direct to the physical address.
I believe it may also be posible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as \\server1\My Backups\

Yes, you're probably right about the layer of abstraction.
After I selected the IP address (192.168.1.30) Acronis software software converted it to a name instead, so it looks like you're right about that too.
