[RESOLVED] recovery operation failed

Thread needs solution

I am unable to restore my backups that I have created. I keep getting "recovery operation failed". I have attached the log from the failed restore. I have tried full backups and incremental with no success. I had no issues with TIH 2011. Any ideas?

Issue resolved here.

The log indicates that Acronis thinks your archive files are corrupt.
To help with finding the problem(s) here are some questions to help pinpoint the reason:
Can you restore any of these files with 2011?
Did you copy or move any of the archive files from their original locations?
Where are the backup files located (what type of storage and how is it connected)?
Did you try using the bootable rescue disk from 2011 or 2012 to restore from the backup files?
Were the backups created in 2012 or in an earlier version?
What operating system and hardware are you using?

Yes, individual files can be restored with 2012.

Did you copy or move any of the archive files from their original locations?
No, these are new backups created from scratch.

Where are the backup files located (what type of storage and how is it connected)?
Network storage.

Did you try using the bootable rescue disk from 2011 or 2012 to restore from the backup files?
That is how I am trying to restore my backup, with 2012 rescue disk.

Were the backups created in 2012 or in an earlier version?
They were created with the latest 2012 build.

What operating system and hardware are you using?
Windows 7 Ultimate

I have tried a Network external drive as well as a eSata connected drive and whatever I do the restored backup fails. It says "The archive is corrupted", which it cleary shouldnt be since they are created with no errors.

ZenFire,
I can only suggest that you remove your current version of 2012, run the 2012 cleanup utility and re-install the latest build (7133), and give it a try once again. Looks like I am out of ideas on this one. Hope someone else can jump in and lend a hand. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for trying. I waited until build 7133 came out before finally giving TIH 2012 a try. Maybe I should have stuck with 2011.

ZenFire,

If ATI2012 finds the archive corrupted, try to validate it with the 2011 recovery CD. If the recovery CD concurs, the archive is probably corrupted..

Your problem is very unusual. I have 2012 installed on both a Windows XP system, as well as a Windows 7 64 bit system, and have never had recovery problems like you are experiencing. If you installed over 2011, that possibly could be an issue. I have had to uninstall 2012, run the 2012 cleanup utility, and then the 2011 cleanup utility, and then install 2012 again to get it working properly on a clients system in the past. They have been running for 6 months now with no problems after getting the old version completely off before re-installing (including doing restores from the recovery disk). Once again I wish I could have been more help.

Absolutely, and you can validate from the recovery disk as well.

I uninstalled 2011 before installing 2012. I dint however run the 2011 clean up utility before installing 2012.

I just validated within TIH 2012 and the backup is corrupted. Im not sure were to go from here because any backup that I create is corrupted. I don't know what ids causing the corruption because the backups have no errors when they are made.

Operation with partition '0-0' was terminated.
Details:
The archive is corrupted (0x70020)

Try the uninstall/re-install steps I suggested, and give it a try.

I uninstalled and ran the 2012 and 2011 cleanup utility, even though it looks like the 2012 clean up utility cleans up 2011 product as well. After re installing TIH 2012, now the backup is validating successfully!! I will try a test restore and keep my fingers crossed.

The restore was successful as well. I am surprised that after uninstalling 2011 and installing 2012 there would be a problem even though I didn't receive any errors while uninstalling 2011 or re-installing 2012. At least all looks good for now. Thanks for the input James!

There are some slight differences in the two cleanup utilites. If you run the 2012 version, it will kill all the acronis products listed, but may not get some traces of 2011 that the 2011 cleanup utlity does.
Glad your system is working for you now.
