[RESOLVED] Sync to external hard drive not syncing

Thread needs solution

I just noticed that the sync jobs that have for my Win 7 libraries (music/pictures/document/videos) is not updating to an external USB hard drive. When I checked the jobs they have a green check. However when I check the data the files on the external hard drive are not up to date. I updated to Acronis True Image Home 2012. I have setup a login. I have a note that my subscription to Acronis online backup has expired but I am not doing backup to the cloud.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi James,

This is one of the most common types of synchonization. The process is covered on page 115 of the User Guide. You said you had upgraded to Acronis 2012. Does this mean you had a working sync set up previously and that files stopped syncing after the upgrade?

To the best of my knowledge, a valid account is needed in order for sync to occur, even locally. While data is not transferred outside, this method was employed in order to give users the ability to add other computers to a sync task. Because of this, a login is required. It might be helpful for you to post an Acronis System Report. This might allow myself or others to determine where your job is failing.

Generate System Report How To

In addition, a System Report can be generated at any time when the program is open, even when a task or other Acronis operation is running by pressing "CTRL+F7"

Thanks for the information. I setup sych for my Widnows libraries to an external hard drive. It worked fine last year. I just noticed it is not working. I tried to upgrade to current version to resolve issue but that did not help. I have a login account. The sync application does not give you a method to delete the jobs and reenter. At this point the sync utility is not syncing. I need to use another utility to sync my files to an external hard drive.

James,
Have you verified the credentials you are using work? What does your log file say? It should give a reason why the sync cannot be performed or why it can't complete.

I am logging OK with the credentials. I am getting this error inthe log. Do I need an online subscription to do a local sync?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Shadowsports,

I uninstalled True Image Home 2012 and reinstalled it thinking that would resolve the issue. I had new error which was "Destination folder does not exist". I opened a ticket with support ($10 charge) to troubleshoot the issue. The tech told me that I could not sync sub-folders. I had a hard time grasping this was true. The issue was related to what I was trying to sync. With Windows 7 I needed to point the actual folders in the users folder (C:\Users\user name\documents) rather than pointing to the Libraries\documents folder. Once I did this the sync worked without an issue.

Thanks for your help.
