[RESOLVED] windows7 backup and restore will not start after uninstall true image 2012

Thread needs solution

I've uninstalled true image 2012 and have run the cleanup utility. Now I cannot get the builtin windows7 backup and restore to run...

control panel->all control panel items->backup and restore

gets no response. Similar no-response using START button, search backup, click backup and restore.

I tried to open a support ticket on this, but was blocked from that because my trial version is no longer registered.

kb14741 and kb26912 appear to be related to my issue but they apply to older versions of true image. It looks like the registry fixes in the two are the same but I'm not keen on modifying the registry with either of these without being certain that they won't break something else.

Perhaps someone here is better at searching the kb and the forum postings than I am and can locate the fix for the current version of true image 2012.

TIA,
Phil

I stand corrected. kb26912 does indeed say it applies to true image 2012. I downloaded and applied that fix and I can now get to the builtin backup and restore fromm control panel.

the kb26912 is correct. It restores the registry entries that allow Windows Backup and Recovery to start.
I have used it several times. Here is some additional information you may wish to read. http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-w7-backup-restore-acronis-true-im…
