Restore archive to partition other than C

Thread needs solution

I split my HD into two partitions. If I want to restore different archives into the two partitions, how do I accomplish it? Restore process seems to always lead me to restoring into the C partition only. If I could restore into two different partitions then I could hide one partition and make the other active. That would allow me to boot up with either of two different sets of applications. I will really appreciate suggestions as to how I can choose different target partitions. Thanks!

It might help to know what version of TI you're using.

You just select the destination partition (or unallocated space) for the partition being restored. This is a text link in TI 2009 and TI 2010.

Note that you will have to hide the non-booting partition if you plan to do what you suggest. Otherwise, you'll have a cross-linked system (though there's ways around that too).

Thanks for your comment, MudCrab! My version is TrueImage 11 Home. It seems the only partition target choice I have is C. I can't figure how to get another target. Maybe I'm going about things wrong.

Have you created another partition on the drive that's large enough to hold the restored image of C:?

Can you post a screenshot of what Disk Management shows for your drive?

Do you have any partitioning software or are you trying to do it all with TI?

The partition I named Restructure does not show up as a potential target when I try to restore.

The Partitioning software I used to create Restructure is Acronis Disk Director Suite® version 10.0 (build 2,160)

Are you trying to do the restore from TI in Windows or when booted to the TI CD?

Can you post a screenshot of what TI shows for available destination partitions?

Does chkdsk /f report any errors or bad sectors on either the Windows partition or the new partition?

Have you tried removing the new partition and recreating it with Disk Management?
