Restore backups via the restore menu choice or copy and paste in windows explorer?

Is there a difference if I restore a couple of backup files via the restore menu choice or copy and paste in windows explorer?

I can see using the restore menu if restoring a lot of stuff, but I just want to do an occasional test restore to make sure my backups are completing successfully.
