Restore disappears
For decades I have kept backups on 2 external drives. One was always off site.
I am having a HUGE problem keeping backups. I am using Acronis True Image 2014 premium. This is my ninth registered product with Acronis.
For example:
1) I made a backup labelled "5 1 2014 Disk 1" onto external drive 1. The RECOVER TAB appeared.
2) When I made a backup labelled "5 1 2014 Disk 2" onto my second external drive 2, the RECOVER TAB appeared there, BUT the RECOVER TAB disappeared for "5 1 2014 Disk 1" and the phrase "Not backed up yet" appeared after the name "5 1 2014 Disk 1".
This continues to happen. I can only keep the RECOVER TAB on the latest backup and backing that up removes previous RECOVER TABS.
Except, I do have some old backups made in 2013. These continue to keep their RECOVERY TABS. The problem is only with recent backups made in 2014.
ALSO,
1) If I try to delete the settings and data for a backup I no longer need, the program locks up and I need to go to TASK MANAGER to close the progran, and
2) If I only delete THE SETTINGS from an old backup, the REVOVER TAB for the latest backup disappears and I get the message "Not backed up yet" for that latest backup.
I have no idea how to find replies in this forum where topics seem to be randomly placed. There must be a way to sort topics

I have seen your issue posted about before, and just recently I might add, on the Forum. Unfortunately I do not have a solution for you but thought you might like to know you are not alone.
I can tell you that 2014 has a very strict naming scheme in which user naming of backup files is not allowed. You can give backups a name but that really only amounts to a label and does nothing for true file names. I suspect that this is at the root of your problem but as far as I know there is no way to change this behavior.

Hi John,
Let me try to help here. I believe the issue may be one of procedures which can be user modified rather than a specific problem. The last two versions "ease of use" have been like nightmares for even the old users of TrueImage and I am one of those old old (in age) users as well. Note the term "not backed up yet" is simply an info message to indicate there has been no "scheduled" backup performed--as yet. Backups created manually may exist.
For now, stop creating any backups with your old tasks. If they are scheduled, then change them to unscheduled but let's start over with new tasks.
GH1. How to change a backup task from scheduled to "Do Not Schedule".
If understanding correctly, you are backing up one computer but performing two different backups--each backup to a different storage disk.
There are two different methods on how that can be accomplished.
Method one would be to create two separate tasks with each task pointing to a different storage disk. This is the method I am going to explain. Each different storage disk will need its own backup task.
----------------------------------------------
Backup Storage disk 1:
Attach storage disk one (I suggest a drive letter such as X so the insertion of a flash drive or camera does not cause a drive letter change on the storage disk.) Create a new folder on storage disk 1 to store the future backups to be produced by this task.
For now, Create a new NON-scheduled backup task. It can be changed to scheduled later after the task has been proven to your satisfaction to be working. As 2014 is different, spend a few minutes reading my signture link 2-A below.
As you progress through the 2-A guide, the best choice would be the "select disk mode" option. When you select the destination, point the the newly created folder described above. The name for you to be assign to the backup file would be
Disk 1_Full_@date@_
(ultimate file name will be "Disk 1_Full_actual date_Full_b1_s1_v1"
(the "Full_b1_s1_v1" will be put there by the program without any choice by you.)
I don't know which type backup scheme you are using. Choose your scheme from one of my example provided inside the guide with duplicates below.
Note the task name or "backup name" "Full-Disk 1__" before saving.
Save the task as a NON-SCHEDULED TASK using the "Backup later" option.
This should cause a new backup task to appear on main screen named "Full-Disk 1__"
We will perform a backup later via the new non-scheduled task.
=============================================================
Backup Storage disk 2:
Attach storage disk two (I suggust a drive letter such as Y so the insertion of a flash drive or camera does not cause a drive letter change on the storage disk.) Create a new folder on storage disk 2 to store the future backups to be produced by this task.
The name for you to be assign to the backup file would be
Disk 2_Full_@date@_
(ultimate file name will be "Disk 2_Full_actual date_Full_b1_s1_v1"
(the "Full_b1_s1_v1" will be put there by the program without any choice by you.)
Choose your scheme from one of my example provided inside the guide with duplicates below.
Note the task name or "backup name" "Full-Disk 2__" before saving.
Save the task as a NON-SCHEDULED TASK using the "Backup later" option.
This should cause a new backup task to appear on main screen named "Full-Disk 2__"
We will perform a backup later via the new non-scheduled task.
------------------------------------------------------------
Now examine your main screen and you should have the two new task different listed.
As Disk 2 is attached, put your mouse pointer inside the Full-Disk 2 task and click the "Back Up Later" option which is located on the right margin of task Full-Disk 2. Upon completion of backup, you will have the two options listed which is the Backup Up Later and the Recover Option. Ignore the not backed up message.
After the backup has been completed, then remove disk 2 and attach disk 1.
As Disk 1 is attached, put your mouse pointer inside the Full-Disk 1 task and click the "Back Up Later" option which is located on the right margin of task Full-Disk 1. Upon completion of backup, you will have the two options listed which is the Backup Up Later and the Recover Option. Ignore the not backed up message
===================================
At this point, you should have two working tasks with backups stored on each storage disk and the two tasks properly named and working.
At your choosing, you can continue to make non-scheduled backup or adjust the schedule for the backups to become scheduled as per link GH2 below.
Below is an assortment of related links which you will find to be helpful. If you set your backup scheme as per my examples, the deletions will be automatic but if you should want to need to do a deletion, then use the program to perform the deltion as indicated in link GH5.

================================================
Method 2 could be done from one task using the "Backup Reserve Copy" whereby the program immediately performs a 2nd backup but directs the 2nd backup to a different storage location. This option is part of the Disk Backup options/Advanced section--same screen as where the validation options located. This reserve copy is always a full backup and lacks the flexability that two tasks offer.
My apologies for such a lengthy respoonse but I believe if the directions above followed, the result will be predictable backus without the issues which caused your original posting. Good luck.
