Restore fails

Thread needs solution

I'm having a problem with restore using True Image Home® version 11.0 (build 8,053). I'm running Win XP SP3.

I backed up my hard drive, which then died. I validated the backup. I can also browse files on the backup. The backup is on a USB harddrive.

I then tried restoring to another drive, restoring the entire drive. The new drive just has XP and ATI on it. After specifying the source .tib file and the destination drive, ATI reboots, churns for about a minute, then reboots again. Nothing changed on the destination drive.

The log file just says analyzing c, analyzing d, warning - reboot required and user said reboot.

My target computer doesn't have a floppy drive and my cdrom burner isn't working, so I can't create a boot cd. My target computer won't boot from a flash drive, or I'd try that.

Any suggestions? What other information can I provide to help fix this?

You could try updating to the latest build of TI 11 (8,101) and see if it supports the computer better.

You could also try copying the image file from the USB drive to an internal drive (this assumes you have another internal drive available). Then try the restore from the internal drive instead of from the USB drive.

If you have access to another computer, download the TI 11 ISO file and burn a CD from it.

CD/DVD burners are very cheap. I'd recommend replacing the unit. Not being able to burn CDs really limits your options.
