Restore Fails for HP 6560b (HDD WD500BEKT - 60KA9T0)

Thread needs solution

Hi there

BASIC ISSUE = We are unable to restore a partition from a TIB file to a partition on the HDD of above HP laptops

BACKGROUND
We purchased a business laptop from HP (model 6560b) and did a partition backup using Acronis True Image Home 2011 with the Plus pack installed.
OS = Windows 7 professional 32-bit
The TIB file was verified and we backed up all 4 factory default paritions into a single TIB file.
(System, C-drive, Recovery, Installation partitions)
We then restructrued the paritions to meet our needs which meant creating 5 partitions (and an undeletable SYSTEM parition)

We installed Windows 7 from the HP CD onto the reduced size C-partition and installed Acronis and the Plus pack

We then wanted to restore the system to it's factory state to make sure we can fully recover from a catastrophic failure

We can select the parition FROM THE TIB file and point it to the correct new partition on the HDD.
This does mean overwriting the existing Windows 7 installation and Acronis recognises this with appropriate warnings

The process starts and then fails after about 10 seconds

We did try using Universal restore with option set to pick up drivers from CD - still no luck.

Any iseas?

Using the TI Rescue CD:

When restoring a prior backup of the complete disk (backup includes all partitions) , a disk option restore (disk checkmarked) will restore the system back to the same condition as it was at time of the backup. The restore procedure will need to checkmark the "Recover disk signature" option which is located on the same screen where target disk is selected.

I would also suggest that prior to the restore, you use the TrueImage "add disk" option and delete the existing partitions from the target disk so the target disk become total unallocated space prior to the restore.

All prior data on the target disk is destroyed by a restoration of the disk backup.
