Restore to from HP->IBM, reboot loop

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I tried to restored the image from HP server to IBM server. (Restore with no error)
I have include all the IBM driver, but seem server reboot loop in Windows Server 2003 screen.

Is it driver issue? or because from HP server to IBM server due to non standardize SAS, SATA driver?
I tried restored IBM image to IBM server, no error and able to enter the system.

Anyone face this issue before? please help....

Regards

Hello Yong,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience. I have checked your account and see that you have registered Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows and Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows Universal Restore.

Most probably you haven’t included some drivers or wrong drivers were included for a particular device (motherboard, graphic card etc.) using Acronis Universal Restore. First of all I would recommend you to look through the following step-by-step guide on how to properly restore an image to dissimilar hardware using Acronis Universal Restore. Pay attention to “Step 3: Restoring the backup to a machine with dissimilar hardware” chapter 11.

As workaround you can use Repair option using Windows installation CD to make system bootable:

1)      Boot the computer using Windows installation CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.

2)      When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft

Windows to run on your computer:

  - To setup Windows now, press ENTER.

  - To repair a Windows installation using Recovery Console, press R.

  - To quit Setup without installing Windows, press F3.

3)      Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

Do not choose "To repair a Windows  installation using the Recovery Console, press  R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows installation using the Recovery Console, press  R".

4)      Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.

5)      Select the Windows installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot read  Warning #2!

6)      Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.  Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
