Restore image problem
I have back up using true image from 1TB HD. Now my 1TB is dead. I purchased another 500 GB HD and it can not restore the image.
Correct me if I'm wrong that I must use the same size HD (any brand name)
or I have to use exact the same brand name, same model, same size?
Please help. Many thanks

No it doesn't have to be the same size, make, or model.
How did you make the backup?
When the restoration fails, exactly what error message or problem occurs?

It said, several files unable to restore and option retry, ignore and cancel. I used ignore and not good after finished

Did you make a disk image or a file and folders backup?
If a disk image, does it validate?
Is the file(s) that you are trying to restore one file or split?
Are you restoring this from DVD's or an external file?

it's disk image and validate. I tried to restore the image and the image from external drive.

If the used space on the dead 1TB was more than 500Gb, then you will not get the Image to restore to the 500Gb drive.

So that mean I need new 1TB HD ( not 500GB), correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

You need a drive that is large enough to hold what was on the *USED* space on the 1Tb. You haven't yet said how much was used on the 1Tb.

For the benefit of others, what did you do differently this time to get it to work?

Sure, I beileve the size of the new HD must larger than the size of data image.

yes, that's right. it does not matter how large the source drive was...it matters how much data actually you have backed up.
