Restore of MBR necessary or not?

Thread needs solution

I must make a system (C) image restore. But I am not sure of I also need to check the MBR to be restored as well? Does anyone know that? I can't find anything and the online chat support isn't avaialbel for hours on end now.

Unless you modified the MBR and it is now corrupted, or some malware or mechanical issue damaged it, you don't need to restore the MBR+Track0. For example, if you attempted to dual boot your system and it doesn't boot at all, you modified the MBR. Of course, if your disk completely died and you restore to a new disk, include the MBR (although initializing the disk, which is not necessary, will create an MBR).

More important is to make sure you included all partitions in your backup. Many users just backup the C:\ partitition and the system reserved partittion (where applicable) but they don't include the often present other hidden partitions (recovery, OEM, etc.). Although some of them are not strictly always necessary for the computer to work, it is simpler and safer to include them in the backup.
