Restore to nas problem *Answered*

Thread needs solution

I am experiencing an unusual behaviour when restoring files to a NAS.  6613

I repeatedly get 'Failed to recover file or folder' errors.  The odd thing is that TI seems to correctly write the file to the NAS, then give the error.  The NAS is sucessfully used to back up the PC hard drives.  I have tried restoring to a) another NAS (with the same error) and  b, to a local HD (no problems).

The NAS in question is a Synology 411J running DSM 6.0.2-8451, the build number for Acronis TI 2015 is 6613 and I am using Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP1.

Could any one shed some light on what is happening?

Cheers,

Paul

I suspect a permission issue as the restore will attempt to include the original permissions of the file/folder but those will not be available on the NAS. Acronis can only handle the Windows permissions so when restotlring, don't restore with original security.

this is explained regarding robocopy (built in Windows tool) to a NAS as well.http://www.luisrocha.net/2008/12/robocopy-error-error-5-0x00000005.html…

Thank you Bobbo,

That has made a difference and the restore is progressing without errors.

Good deal!  Glad that's all it turned out to be.  I hit this snag using robocopy a few times so had to reasearch it awhile back.  Good to keep in the back of mind for others, like yourself, who don't just use their NAS for backups, but for actually recovering data to it as well.
