Restore a NonStop Backup

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,
the last month the system HD burned. I replaced it and I had to reinstall Windows 7. I installed again TIH2012 and re-activated NSB but it created a new backup (on the same disk as the old one) instead. How can I restore the last versions of ALL files in the backup?

Alessandro.

Alessandra,

If you reactivated NSB and it replaced the existing backup, your backup is probably gone. You can go to the destination disk, unhide hidden folders. You will see a "time explorer storage" folder. This is where NSB store its files.
This is the problem with NSB, is it not flexible and you have no control on what it does.

Thank you Pat. I checked out and I can still see my old NSB either in Windows Explorer and in TIH. The only way I can restore files is through TIH interface but I have to search for the single file or remember the last time I modified it and go find it by date. It's really annoying not to have a simple way to restore everything, I mean: what even is the purpose of NSB if reinstalling the OS makes it unusable?

PS: BTW is "Alessandro", non "Alessandra"... ;)

Alessandro,

Sorry about mispelling your name. My recommendation would be to use a regular backup, rather than NSB, on a regular partition (not the ASZ). You will have more control about what to keep, where to keep it, etc. You won't be dependent on the installation/OS. Your call...
