Restore Problem

Thread needs solution

This is for True Image 2013 with PP. I did a Microsoft update (3.13.14) and on reboot I had the black screen of death with the upper left hand screen cursor. After booting into the restore partition and trying a system point recovery twice and a startup repair, it was reported that no OS was found. I did a factory restore, did 152 windows updates, installed TI 3013/PP and tried to restore from my last backup. Got an error, can't restore to this partition. Tried another backup from 2 weeks earlier, same error. So, what is the point of having backup software if you CAN'T restore your backup when you have a massive failure and really need it!!!!!!!! I have been using this product since 2008 and the first time I really need it to do what it is suppose to do, it can't. Time to shop for a product that can actually work and do what it is suppose to do. A very disgruntled and torqued off customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't entirely understand the process you followed. If you intended to restore from an ATI backup, I don't know why you would restore the PC to factory specs and then apply Windows Updates.

Re. restoring an ATI backup:
It's safest and most reliable to perform recoveries after booting from the ATI bootable Rescue Media.

When in the recovery environment, drive letters will differ from what you see in Windows. That's not an Acronis issue, it's the nature of the Linux-based recovery environment. You should assign names to each of your partitions so that you can identify them without relying on drive letters. Otherwise you could easily restore to the wrong partition/drive.
