RESTORE PROBLEM HARD DRIVE UPGRADE - PROGRAM AS ASKING FOR REACTIVATION...HELP PLS:(

Thread needs solution

Guys,

I could really use some help as stuck in the woods with this one.

My 500gb hard drive started to experience errors so I created backup using true image 2014. Swopped out for new SSHD 500gb and attempted to restore. All went well but for one program. I now have one program which is asking for an online activation, trouble is company is no longer trading. How is it the program knows it is a new hard drive so locks out. I have attempted to change the disk signature carry over and a few other things with no success. Any ideas how I can get round this. Thanks Rob

You can try starting the restore again EXCEPT only select the Track0/mbr and then on the next target selection screen, select the "Recover Disk signature". This restore should be done when booted from the TI Recovery CD.

Thanks for coming back to me Grover.... Thing is, after trying loads of experiments and various restores it would seem that the program doesn't like my new hard drive manufacturer serial number... Any ideas on how to clone or spoof this.... Its all legitimate....so frustrating as the company whom sold the software are no longer trading.

Rob,
I udnerstand your frustration.

If the old program is tracking the identity of the old disk and you restored the mbr and disk signature, there is not a lot more you can do--that I know of.

Have you searched your registry settings of the old program to see if there are some settings or an ini file which might be updated?
