Restore question & suggestion

Thread needs solution

How come a backup takes around 2 hours to make, but it takes more than 10 hours to restore one, even using a USB 3.0 external drive?

I suggest TI 2015 is modified so that when restoring, the arrow graphic is shown pointing from the back up drive to the target drive (or swap the graphics with each other). The screen indicates that you are overwriting your backup, which is a bit alarming!

Andrew:

Most likely because the recovery environment for TI doesn't have the correct USB 3.0 driver for your hardware. Did you start a restore from the Windows version of the program or from the Acronis bootable media? If so, they both use a Linux-based recovery environment and it may not have the right USB 3.0 drivers. Try making a WindowsPE based recovery disk from the program; it will use Windows drivers and is more likely to have the correct ones.

Hi Mark,

I did the restore of folders from within TI. Thanks for the advice.

Did you only restore files and folders? If so, ignore the previous advice - it only applies to situations when you are restoring disks or partitions, and the program needs to shut down Windows and reboot into a recovery environment. If you are just restoring files and folders, this doesn't apply.
