Restore system files only from full save

Thread needs solution

Restore System Files Only
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my PC and using latest version of ATI Home 2011. To keep the discussion simple I have one hard drive and have done a full save of C: and System Reserved.

In Windows 7 and previous versions of windows it is possible to create restore points, and later restore back to a restore point without affecting documents, pictures etc.

My question – Is it possible with ATI to do a restore of only system files / drivers, etc without affecting documents, pictures, etc? If so, how?

There was something sort of like this in much older versions -- a system resotre function. But for this specific function, you can't beat windows Restore.

One way to get to where you want to be is to keep your data docs on a different partition or hdisk; then you can restore them separately, independently. It would mean reconfiguring your hdisk but it's worth considering.

Scott,

Thanks!! Took me a while to find it. In windows 7 the operating system save / restore is called system protection. To find it went to Start > Computer (right click) > properties > system protection (upper left corner). Discovered that system protection was turned off for C:. Turning it on gave me what I was looking for.

Thanks again!!
Tom
