Restore of System Partition From An MBR Drive To System Partition On A GPT Drive

Thread needs solution

I have a Lenovo G580 distributed with UEFI boot, and 500GB GPT hard drive. I set up the system partition with my apps, etc. I removed the GPT drive, and installed an SSD, initializing it with MBR. I attached the GPT drive via USB. Using TIH 2013 bootable media, I backed up the 'set up' system partition, and restored it to the SSD. I used a tool to 'fix' the MBR, since it would not boot, and changed the UEFI stuff to Legacy in the BIOS, and it came up just fine (3 seconds to start screen tiles!). I then reinstalled the original drive, and performed a 'System Restore' using Lenovo's One Key Restore mechanism. The object was have the 500GB hard drive in it original factory state, and convert everything to MBR on the running (SSD) system. All this was necessitated because Lenovo's One Key Backup/restore system does not allow resizing the System Partition, as any attempt to restore to it will fail. If I cloned the GPT to the SSD, with resizing, I would lose the OKR feature forever!

Now to my question! Would it be possible to restore a backup of the System Partition on the SSD (MBR), to the System Partition on the GPT drive (keeping it at 500 GB), and would TIH 2013 in the process make it bootable? TIH should know the restore is an MBR partition, and that the target is a GPT partition. Keep in mind, when answering, that if it doesn't work, or something goes wrong, the whole One Key Backup scheme, and being able to get back to original factory state might be trashed! The reason for this question is that I could keep the System Partition on the GPT drive sync'ed with the SSD drive with an occasional restore, and test boot! No guessing, please!
