Restore from VM image to host machine?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm currently running TI2010, but will be upgrading to 2011 with plus pack asap.

My father (in his 70's), has purchased Win7, but has no idea how to install, let alone add/configure all the apps he wants.

With TI 2011/Plus Pack, could I setup a machine in vmware with "his" configuration/apps etc, take an image, & restore it to his machine?

Then the only thing he would have to do is activate.

TIA to any answers :)

You probably could. However, if I were doing that, I would do a quick test run first with just the OS so I'd know if it was going to go smoothly or not before setting up the apps. Definately wait to activate Windows (and any other programs) until after everything is working on the physical computer.

I would recommend making a backup of his current system before restoring the Windows 7 image. You could also do a test run without UR and see if it's needed. Windows 7 has a lot of built-in drivers and may be able to switch from the VM directly.
