Restore XP image to SSD without expected issues?

Thread needs solution

Is there a straight-forward way to image XP from a HDD to a SSD using Acronis?

Hoping if so - it's something that also installs a trim equivalent and deactivates unnecessary taxing processes on XP automatically.

I've read it's possible to do all of this with many steps and problems expected along the way. However I just want something much more hassle free due to time constraints and the number of computers I want to do this to. Doing this for one home PC is no problem - the problems are just fun! Doing this for 20 work PC is different.

Also wondering if there's a special license I can buy so I don't have to buy 20 licenses?

In case you're wondering, why not just upgrade to Win7? Would need new hardware, new OS, new progams, some not compatible properly with Win 7.

Thank you in advance!!! Want to upgrade a home XP PC to an SSD too! Will do it either way, but hopefully the easy (fast, not cost me a weekend, so I can teach my kids how to arduino) way if there is one :)

My posting relates to the TrueImage Home 2014 version which is the forum for that version.. I don't know about the business versions which is a different forum.

Here is the Aconis KB on the subject of cloning a Laptop and it would be applicable to the SD.

The program does contain a "Trim SSD" option in the tools menu which would be manual--most likely. Nothing would be automatic.

While I have restored XP Pro numerous times, none of my restores to the XP has involved the SD disk but I see no reason why it would not succeed.

As for the procedures needed in using TrueImage Home,
1. Use the either the TI user created bootable recovery CD and create a disk option backups of all partitions on the source disk.
This backup could also be done from the Windows installed version as well as from the CD.
a. In order to use the standard version of TrueImage, you would need to have an individual backup of each of the individual computers.
b. In order to restore a single backup across multiple computers, you would need to use the Premium version as this would be considered as restoring to dissimilar hardware and you undoubtedly do not have all totally identical computers. Also drivers needed for each computer.

2. The spin disk would be removed from the computer and the SD installed into the same place and connectors inside the specific computer. Backup image file stored in an alternate location.

3. Boot from the TI Recovery CD (or Acronis bootable flash drive_ and perform a restore of the Acronis Tib Backup Image. As you are restoring XP, you should be able to to restore as a Disk option restore (checkmarking the disk rather than checkmarking the individual partitons) so the resize should be automatic--assuming that the spin disk has used space less than the SSD size. Note: if you make indivudual backups of each computer, then you could also use the restore option "Recover Disk Signature" option.

4. Shutdown and disconect the disk containing the backup and reboot with only the SD attached.

5. You will need to try this on at least one computer to confirm the feasibility of the above.
Link 3 below, item 2 covers this in more detail.

6. I realize this is not what you had in mind but the above is an alternative which would have to be repeated for each computer restored.

7. Additional licenses would be needed but you will need to contact Acronis. This is a link to the forum moderator.
