Restored from a TI2014 backup of Win 8.1 to a SSD - No OS found - PC won't boot.

Thread needs solution

I tried restoring Windows 8.1 from a TrueImage 2014 backup. The restore appeared to work okay but when I tried to boot the PC I got a message saying no OS was found. I tried restoring again but still the problem persisted. I then tried using a Win 8 disc to repair the boot sector but got another error saying; a repair could not be done. I've now installed Win 8 from scratch and updated to 8.1 the painful way but this somewhat defeats the object of having a backup programme that fails like this.

Did I do something wrong, or is TI2014 not reliable with 8.1?

I need to be able to rely on my backup programme as it takes far too long to restore from scratch.

Check BIOS/UEFI I see what device order is set for boot -- revise it if necessary.

Did you do the restore with the new disk in place where the old disk was when the backup was made? Was it a full diskmode backup?
