Restored XP OS Image crashes with blue screen during bootup

Thread needs solution

I have created a full system image backup file (.tib) with True Image Home 2009 Boot CD for my IBM laptop ( Windows XP), and restored it to an USB HD (more disk space than C drive on the laptop) successfully using the same Boot CD as it seemed.   When I tried to boot up the machine with the newly created bootable USB HD, it booted initially (Windows XP boot screen shows up), then crashed, and left a blue screen with bunch of messages.   Has anyone seen this problem with True Image, or did I do something wrong?  I suppose that True Image is capable of restoring the OS to an USB HD from a backup file.  Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,

Henry

Windows isn't designed to be booted from a USB drive. Also, especially where laptops are concerned, it's best to install the drive internally before restoring the image to it.
