Restoring Acronis Image

Thread needs solution

Hi,

My brothers PC had some problems recently and as a result he tried to restore it using his Acronis image, which he had saved on an external hard drive. Unfortunately, he was unable to get it to work as it was saying that he could not restore it to the same hard drive. (I think he did not realise that the drive letters can change in Acronis but cannot be certain as I was not there at the time)

Anyway, as a result he decided to just reinstall Windows which resulted in him losing all his data and programs.

As things stand I am going to try and recover his data and programs using the image that he has. However, my brother does not remember what version of Acronis he used to make the image. Therefore, I was wondering how I would be able to obtain bootable media so I can restore his image for him.

Any help someone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you require any further information and I will post it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hello Alex,
If he registers his serial number, he will be presented with download options for the version he owns (including bootable media). If he purchased his copy of ATIH from acronis, support can assist him recovering his serial number. If he bought a retail copy of Acronis and has lost his serial, well, that's like losing money. Its gone.

I'd just buy the latest copy of ATIH and use it to recover the image.

The restore should be done from the TI Recovery CD and any of the more recent versions can probably restore your specific backup.

You can also sign up for the current trial version and use the trial recovery CD to perform the restore.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

I now know that the version my brother used was 2015 and have the bootable media disk. Have posted on the 2015 forum to try and get help guide me through the restoration process as I have never used this software before and I don't want to mess things up.

Hope you both have a great weekend.

Don't skim read the guide. Take time to read it so you understand how it works.

If that does not work for you, then use item 1 inside my signature link 3 and restore one partition at a time.

Trying to read through the guide now Grover but have 2 young kids running about so hard to concentrate. Will post back as soon as I can with how I am getting on.

Good advice is offered at this link.
