Restoring as built disk images not booting

Thread needs solution

Purchased 5 identical machines in late 2014 ... after software install and configuration used ATI 13 to create disk images (as built) for all machines

The other day one of these machines crashed after a Windows update ... Acronis as built mage restored with no errors but Windows 7 Pro won't boot and or won't boot to safe mode ... the default launch recovery tools fail ... boot from last known fails

As these machines didn't come with OS media and are still under warrantee, I took the machine back to the vendor ... the vendor claims there is nothing wrong with the machine and reloaded Win 7 Pro ... ATI 13 backs up and restores this current install but none of the 5 as built images boot.

These machines have dual bios (GIGABYTE UEFI DualBios) ... when the Windows update occurred (the other 4 machines successfully did this same update) this machine stated the bios was corrupted so restored it's bios image from the dual bios ... I am wondering if the as built images are possibly comparing some bios signature (configuration?) ...  failing this test Windows just refuses to boot?

Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to resolve this ... the software in the as built is not trivial to install or configure

Greetings Terry,

Does the "As Built" disk image validate?  Do you know if the image is even good?  Have you ever tried to restore a single file from this image to confirm it would work when/if needed?

What is the disk configuration?

Tell us about the back up image.  Full Disk Image (contains all partitions)?  You are restoring all at once, one at a time, in what order?

Destination disk(s) is... single SATA disk (AHCI), IDE disk, RAID?

Connected to what controller or port(s)?

No idea what MB model or Rev you have is?

I assume you have BIOS access, system starts normally, but then...?

What is the behavior?  Flashing cursor, see windows splash screen, but windows never loads, you see an error message, what?

Possible issues:

Boot configuration has changed

Disk image is being restored incorrectly

"As Built" disk image is no good, never worked and was not validated or tested.

If you need specific assistance with your motherboard, corrupt BIOS etc...  I also post on the Gigabyte User Forums (same username and picture)

One thing you might try would be on the System that boots, go to Control Panel/Backup

and create a Windows Repair Disk CD.

Then use the CD to boot one of the non-working systems and do a

Repair System Startup

and it may take 2 or 3 attempts.

See if you can get one to boot.
