restoring files

Thread needs solution

The full image or mirror backup by Acronis true image failed several times. Finally discovered a hard disk failure. The hard disk has to be replaced. Now I only have the option of backing up all the files. QUESTION: CAN THE FILES BE SIMPLY RESTORED INTO A NEW (DIFFERENT) HARD DISK THAT WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF THE OLD DISK?
Many thanks

If you have a backup of the disk you have lost, you can restore the image on a new disk and your system will be exactly like you left it.
Check out the recovery process in the product guide.

If you can backup the files only, you will have to reinstall your OS and your programs manually, then restore the files. If you can, instead of using Acronis to create this backup, just use Windows to copy the files from the damaged disk to a temporary disk.

If you cannot copy or backup the files within Windows because it has failed and you cannot boot on it any longer, consider taking the failling disk out of the system and use a USB to SATA adapter to connect it onto another computer. You might be able to access the files this way.

If you cannot access the disk or the files, you'd better have a working backup available, or you are in trouble...
