Restoring a larger SSD to a smaller one error
I am trying to restore my entire PC backup to a new SSD. At the end of the restore i get an error, "internal error: number of copied sectors differs from counted" and the restore fails. Any idea as to what the problem could be?
I am running true image 2015 latest version.

Yes
New, fresh install this year.
I am testing out the recovery so no problem with my current system.
I did find out that i can restore to the same size disk 1 TB to 1 TB but when i try to restore the image to a smaller SSD 512 GB that is when i get the error. The data on the SSD is only about 180 GB. Is there something i need to do to restore to a smaller drive?

Restoring to a smaller drive seems to be trickier with the 2015 version, if the posts on this forum are any relevant indication.
When you restore to a smaller drive, ATI will try to scale the right partitions appropriately to fit, assuming that it can still fit the actual data in the shrunk partitions, and it doesn't modify some hidden partitions. Automatic resizing works typically fine, but with some recovery partitions, and other OEM partitions, it sometimes creates issues, in particular when these partitions are after the c:\partition. From my experience, sometimes cloning works actually better (I cannot explain why, but I couldn't restore a UEFI set up to a SSD disk, but cloning worked out perfectly).

Yea its definitely a larger to smaller restore issue. So far I haven't found anything that will work.

Hi Zen it is a bug in the software. There is no help. I put the 2nd and 3rd level support through the paces because of this issue.
it can even happen if you use same sized / models of SSD but mostly happen if the SSD size or model vary.
Your backup is ok on validation still you get this sector differs error when you try to restore it. This thing took a month of debugging to find out and the workaround was to dump the backup and do a new one.

This issue happened to me in TI 2014 and TI 2015 so far. Restoring it with a previous version of Acronis fails because the format of the backup isn't compatible.
It was also independent whether I used UEFI or not. It also happened on MBR same as on GPT partitions.
PS: if you know a solution let me know.
