Restoring to a larger/smaller drive
How do you re-size the partitions in a larger drive after restoring an image from a smaller one? Does this happen automatically or does it require the user's manual intervention? And how is it done? Would cloning be a better or easier way of doing this?
Aldo, does it make any difference whether you're dealing with two regular HD drives, two SSD drives or one regular and one SSD drive?
Thanks for any help.

The only complication can be when the mechanical HDD was originally formatted with what is now an ancient OS version. This applies mainly to large capacity drives. The HDD formatting can be out of alignment, and this can cause issues when copying the disk to a SSD drive. There are utilities that can be used to correct the alignment, but they come with the usual warning about loss of data and data corruption. The premium edition has a special routine to transfer from mechanical to SSD drive. I assume the utility also makes sure that trim support is activated in Windows and that disk de-fragmenting is disabled.

I use Windows Disk Management. Works great. Very straightforward.
