Restoring my HD to a backed up version

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI 2014 Premium. I've run into problems with my computer after an Anti-virus program deleted a large number of files that it should not have. I've tried a System Restore to a date before this happened, but it didn't completely solve the problem. Fortunately I backup the drive every night, so I want to restore the backup from the night before this happened.

I want to ask some advice, since up to now I have only restored individual files, and this is a bigger undertaking. Should I do the restore from a bootable ATI CD, or within windows? Can I do this with the drive installed? Is there a guide or thread I should read first? My backups are in disk mode. The backup I want to restore has 4 incremental versions after the last full backup.

Thanks for any advice

Review my signature link 3 below and then item 3 inside that link.
There you will find a guide on how to restore C only.
This restore shouold be done when booted from the CD.

If you choose to restore the last most recent incremental, that will cause the full and all incrmentals to be restored.
Or,
If you choose one of the incrementals, it will restore the full plus it and the prior incrementals leaving the later incrementals not restored.

This will cause your C to look like your backup as all prior data will be replaced on this drive.
