restoring a partitioned drive

Thread needs solution

I backed up a Win 7 partitioned drive to a single .tib file and am now trying to restore to a new drive of the same size (old drive died) without much luck. when using the recovery wizzard it asks where to restore the c partition (system back up). I direct it to the new drive. Then it asks where to restore the other partion, e (data). I direct it to the same drive which it doesn't accept, leaving me at unselected and unable to procede.

Do you still have access to the original drive? Creating a full disk mode backup would be the best way to go, as I'm worried that you may not have captured all partitions (including hidden ones).

If the version of True Image you are using has a tool called "Add a new disk", use it to create a blank MBR based hard disk (on your TARGET hard drive) without any partitions before starting the restore.
