Restoring to an SSD connected by USB

Thread needs solution

TI 2013. Experimenting with a SATA cable that connects a SSD via USB. SSD is detected, can be formatted, etc. But it appears that I CANNOT use the TI console to restore a full back-up, stored on either an internal D drive or an external hard drive, onto the SSD connected in this fashion. Is that correct? I am able to use to boot disk to accomplish the restore, but am trying to save some time while experimenting.

Hi Jacob,

this scenario should be possible. What difficulties have you faced?

Thank you,

Hi Anna,

Just noticed your replies to both of my posts. Didn't get any emails advising of your posts, like I did with others when I replied to their posts. Anyway, understand Win 7 does not support booting from SATA drive with OS, connected via USB. And I just found after playing around more after your reply, that once again, I didn't understand the TI software. When I viewed "source and destination," I didn't see any choices for destinations, only viewed sources, and got confused. Like in my Capture B which maybe attached.

Thanks.

I sent a reply but for unknown reasons it got blocked by a TI spam filter. I replied to that. Maybe my reply will get to you? Tired of writing now, but thanks for BOTH of your replies.

The problem was that I was once again confused by the TI software, a part that I've rarely used, since it's always been strongly advised to use the boot disk for recovery. The boot disk software layout is different from the console layout/options. The console indicated "source and destination," but I didn't see any options for "destination," only "source." See screen capture. When I continued I did see all attached drives as optional drives for restore.
