restoring WIN7 on 2 partitions to having only a single partition for my WIN7

Thread needs solution

I found this https://kb.acronis.com/content/57982

I have ATI 2014 Premium, WIN 7 home premium

I have WIN7 installed on C-90 GB and D-25 GB and I would like to replace my 90GB with a 256GB and restore WIN7 to 1 partition in total   i.e. restore only my C - 90-GB to C-256 GB then manually install remaining programs from D - 25 GB

Following the Knowledge base article it seems I could just restore C - 90GB to my new C -256GB and then manually install the few programs on my D - 25 GB drive as needed to my new 256 GB drive  i.e a short cut way of moving WIN7 off of multiple pratitions to only a single partition without having to install from scratch

Doug, you should be able to do what you ask with regard to taking a backup of your current 90GB C: drive and restore that backup to your new 256GB drive.

For the programs that are currently installed to your 25GB D: drive, you could of course simply leave that drive 'as is' and just replace the C: drive with the larger new drive, or perhaps even go for a larger disk for the D: drive and do the same backup & restore to move the data to the new second drive.

If you go with your original decision to consolidate Windows 7 to just the C: drive, then I would recommend uninstalling any D: programs before doing the migration to the 256GB drive, so that you can clean up any references for those programs pointing to the D: drive.  You could use a program such as Revo Uninstaller or IObit Uninstaller or CCleaner.
