Restoring Win7X64 strips/changes Administrator password
I am restoring an image (even to the same machine, and always without Universal Restore) and after restoring the Administrator account password is changed. This happens with a win7x64 image.
I have re-made the image with a verified, working password on the admin account. Restored it, and the password does not work.
Any info?

It's definitely not a user input error. I've had multiple people attempt. And I am using the latest 6514 build.
I've used Acronis extensively in the past and have never encountered this.

Thanks for your reply. I'll give this a test on my Win 8 system. I can't do this on my Win 7 at this time. To large and time consuming for testing.
Universal Restore should not strip/change the passwords.
One additional question, are you using the Windows version or Rescue Media to perform the repair?

I am using the Bootable Media and always without Universal Restore. It should be a byte for byte replication.

On my Windows 8 system (MBR based) restoring the System Reserved and OS partitions (from a backup made with the 6514 Rescue Media this evening) did not reproduce your problems/issue with the password.
When I get time, I will restore a Windows 7 64 bit SR and OS partition to this same system (from a previous backup), then backup and restore with 6514 to see if I can duplicate your results.

Do you mean:
"after restoring the Administrator account, the password is changed" ?
Or
"after restoring, the Administrator account password is changed" ?
I'm not being pedantic. Without the necessary comma, your statement is that your restored the Administrator account. If that's what you did, please describe what you did. If in fact you restored an entire disk or partition, and then you discovered that the Admin account password had changed, please confirm that. I want to make sure I know what you did.
I've restored many Win7 64-bit disks and partitions using build 5551, and a couple using latest build 6154, and have not seen such behaviour.
Did you ever change the Admin password yourself (or did some other user do do)? Is it possible you restored an earlier image from when the Admin password was different?
How do you know that the Admin password has changed? I worked on a user's system who could no longer login. We were convinced that his employer's IT administrator had inadvertently changed the password. Instead it turned out it was a known bug that sometimes an account becomes unrecognized and won't accept login, even though password is correct.

Is the account in question "the Administrator account", a user account created having administrator rights, or the hidden Administrator account that is disabled by default in Windows 7?
Have you enabled the Administrator account and assigned a password (or did you leave it blank)?
Are there any other user accounts on the system?
Do the passwords still work on the other accounts?

Tuttle: Sorry for the grammer.
After restoring, the administrator account password changed.
The administrator account is the win7 hidden account, made active. There are 2 other accounts, both work fine after the restore.
I set the administrator account password. log off, log on, password works. Reboot. Password works. Test all other accounts. Working. Restart and make the image.
Restore image via bootable media, restoring the entire disk.
Computer boots, sees all 3 accounts. Choose administrator account, password does not work.

I'll let someone else answer. I do not use the "true" hidden Administrator account, so I have no experience with it.
