Restoring Windows 7 user account

Thread needs solution

I managed to corrupt my Windows 7 user account. Fortunately, I have a current backup using True Image 2014. Which files do I restore in order to restore my user account?

To make matters worse, I went to my system restore points to restore to an earlier version and, although it's set to save restore points, there are no restore points there. Gah!

So, I would appreciate some guidance on restoring the registry from backup, too, please.

What type of backup do you have, Disk Image or files and folders? Hopefully it is a disk image backup, because you can't restore only bits and pieces of the registry and settings. If you have a Disk Image backup you can boot from the rescue cd/usb and restore your most recent image. Glenn, if you only have a files and folders backup then you cannot fix this problem with restoring data.

Please see webpage: Fix a corrupted user profile in Windows 7 which will guide you through the process of making a new user profile and copying your data from the corrupt profile to the new one.
