Retoring a hard drive - using Acronis 2009 but have Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Hello,

My hard drive started giving me a lot of errors on boot up. I ran scan disk and it was able to correct the problems long enough for me to to back it up using version 2009. I bought another hard drive - Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB with the exact same model number. I then booted up using my recovery CD and restored the files to the hard drive. The machine won't boot up and just sits there with a flashing cursor on the screen. I recently noticed where version 2009 does not support Windows 7. Is this the cause of the problem? If I purchase a newer version, can I use the .tib file I created and re-run the restore process?

Worst case, if I have to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit Pro, can I still use the .tib file to recover files such as pictures etc? I understand I will have to reinstall a lot of programs, but the data is the most important.

Thanks. Let me know if I need to provide more information.

Kyle
