Revover failes

I have Acronis True Image 2014 Premium installed and a file backup on a external USB 3 connected hard drive. After a re-installation of the OS, I recovered a mirror image of my hard drive from a year ago which worked fine and brought the computer back to the state it was in originally, minus files which updated since the mirror image.
Now the recovery of the Back-up Files fails. The recovery process is very slow to react and I am being informed the "cannot find Versions.......". The system is grinding away, I can see activity on the backup hard drive and an indication that something is "calculating". I let this run throughout the night but it just keeps on grinding.
I have 628 GB of baked up .tib files on the hard drive which I need to recover. I am sure there must be a way to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.
