right click backup in explorer

Thread needs solution

when backing up a drive/partition using the menu item 'backup' on the right click menu it always creates a full backup. the 2 options that are presented and when choosing the 'add to the existing backup' it still makes a new backup of the drive and new task so now i have a full backup with incremental backups and a new backup of the same drive.
when adding to existing backup option it should simply let me pick which task i want to update.

why is this so difficult?

this is my first time of using your backup program which i think has the best interface of all of them ive ever used over more then 20 years of computing but its not funny when i picked that and thought it was going to increment and instead created a whole new backup of a 200gb partition. of course i had to do it a couple more times to see if it was something i did wrong and figure it all out and each time created a new backup and it still wasnt funny when i finally looked in my tasks and saw all those newly created ones.

if it isnt going to work right then give the option to remove it from the right click explorer shell menu. yes i know how to remove it manually but i shouldnt have to becuase the program should have an option to add or not to the shell menu...at least on install.

also...in the defaults options when marking to exclude exts it doesnt save it as default and always have to mark that one setting on creating tasks.

Hello Slaytar,

Thank you very much for your feedback, it's really important for us.

I've forwarded your recommendations to the responsible person, and probably the future versions of Acronis True Image will support all of those features. Unfortunately, I can't tell you the time frame of the release.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional suggestions or questions.

Thank you.

Slaytar,
Regarding the right click option. One reason, I believe, is that the Backup command in this menu was not put there by Acronis. The Right click backup option has been there over several different OS's. If not altered, the command relates to the Windows backup (whatever version of OS). But, often times, a 3rd party backup program is installed and assumes the control over this command--and thus you have no additional options.

If you' are using the Right click Backup option as a substitute for bypassing the opening of TrueImage, why not consider creating some desktop shortcuts to activate an Acronis task. One shortcut could be for just full backups only and another shortcut could be for a task to create a combination of one full plus additional incremental's with task controlling number of incremental.

ok so acronis didnt actually put there backup menu item there?

i know lame nero's backup put there backup menu in there but after finally gettin rid of there backupitup junk and then i tried and bought ati home 2010 and its icon was there as a backup command as was neros. it loads ati thru the menu item and even presents me with those 2 options so i assumed which of course why would i not that acronis add it as a menu item which was super convient for a quick backup. i just dont know why it keeps doing what its doing. if they would just let us pick a task it would work out great cause after backuping up ati closes automactlly again.

Slaytar,
Consider starting TrueImage from the Start Menu or from a Desktop shortcut. If you start from the Right click Context menu, you are forced to create a new task every time you create a backup via this method. Whereas, if you start Acronis from the Start Menu or a desktop shortcut (same amount of work), you now have the option of using tasks already created and you can simply choose one of the old tasks and get your backup done. Or, create one new task to do what you want and then select this pre-created task whenever you want the backup created. Do some experimenting. TrueImage has a lot of features and each of us choose what works best for them and we learn time shortcuts from one user to another user.
