Rocvering old files

Thread needs solution

I have a old tib file made using True Image 8.0 which I need to restore to a new station using Windows 7. The original 8.0 program does not recognise Windows 7. I tried using a trial version of 2012 Backup and Recovery but it did not see any files in the specified drive ?

I have tried to download a trial vesion of True Image Home 2012 but each time the setup fails................. "specified file missing"

Help !!!!

Quintin,

If by chance your old ATI8.0 boot CD works on your new computer, you can use that to recover.

For 2012 trial, as soon as you get your serial number, register it on your ACronis.com account and get the bootable ISO in the product download area. Burn that ISO *as an ISO* (not a simple file copy to the blank CD) to create bootable CD and boot your computer on it.
This will allow you to do a backup of your system disk prior to installing 2012.

Then, boot in Windows, use the cleanup utility found here to get rid of installation remnants. *Read and Follow* all instructions carefully. In particular, do not let the utility reboot your computer.

Reboot.

Then, using msconfig, create a clean boot environment. Seach for msconfig on your computer. Use it to disable all *non-Microsoft* services. Cleanup your temporary Windows files. Download and save the installer somewhere on your computer and then run it.

After installation, reboot. Test ATI, then return msconfig settings to where they were.

Then, reboot.
