Running Acronis TIH 2011 & 2016 on same machine

Thread needs solution

As a relative novice in using ATIH, I have run ATIH 2011 on my W7 PC for some years. I bought ATIH 2016 some months ago but have not yet installed & registered. I believe the 2 have incompatible data formats, & have been told I need to uninstall 2011 before using 2016. Is this strictly so, or could I use both on the same PC to try imaging separately to different memory destinations before committing to uninstallation of 2011?

TI 2016 is not compatible with TI 2011 archive formats. See https://kb.acronis.com/content/1689. Both programs cannot be installed on the same machine. You may want to build a bootable TI 2016 CD and make a backup of your current machine. Did you buy a download version through Digital River? If you have a cd version that CD is bootable and can be used to backup your machine before installing.

Dear Tom

Thanks for your helpful reply. I will try what you suggest. I bought a download version via Cleverbridge, but don't have a bootable CD. Presumably I need to uninstall TI 2011, install TI 2016, then build a bootable CD & backup the machine?

Yes exactly. Make another backup first with TI 2011 and keep the TI 2011 bootable rescue media handy just in case.
