Scheduled incremental backup is hung on CLONE

Thread needs solution

My scheduled weekly incremental backup of my "My Documents" folder started 16hrs ago. It's only ~200Gb to an external 750 GB HDD USB 2.0.
Last night at 2AM, the status was 66% CLONE ARCHIVE...5 days to go.
11 hrs later, the status is 68% CLONING ARCHIVE...CONSOLIDATING ARCHIVE 4 days to go.
I can hear both drives going full bore and the CPU is 20-30%.
What in the world is going on?

Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient investigation information it is hard to say what was the cause, so this situation requires investigation. Could you please gather the following information? 

  1. Build number of the product you're using
  2. What's being backed up
  3. Have you tried to backup to another location? (USB2.0 has a very low speed)
  4. Acronis Info
  5. Procmon output
