Scheduled tasks stopped working, cannot create new ones

Thread needs solution

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Acronis True Image 2015 for PC Build: 6613

In case I never mentioned this in the past, I really hate the lack of notification when something goes pear-shaped with this version of Acronis. I don't want a freaking email sent to myself, I just want the program to notifiy me that it's not working.

Enough of that, on to the issue at hand. Apparently I haven't needed to restore files on my computer since April ... because that is the last time my computer sucessfully backed up (after happily trucking along for 17 weeks) and I had no idea that I was flying without a parachute for the last 8 months.

I decided to just abandon the old backup scheme and start from scratch, but when I try to create a new scheduled task I get an error message saying "Failed to deploy task. Restart your computer and try again. If the error persists, check your Antivirus settings."

I have followed the instructions in the AV settings knowledgebase article (I use ESET) and restarted the computer ... no luck.

I have shut down all Acronis services and renamed the Database folder (found that tip in "start from scratch" post) ... no luck.

Anyone have an idea how I can get this heap of software running again?

Has useful event notification been brought back in the 2017 version of the program?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Nope. Check out MVP FtrPilot's logviewer app in this post below. It might shed some light.  Without knowing more, I can only speculate, but here are some options you can try.

1) You can try running schedulemanager with taskzap to blow away all scheduled tasks and update your task with a new schedule and see if that helps.

2) Is schedulmanager service running?  Check control panel >> administrative tools >> computer management >> services and applications >> services

Is the Acronis scheduler service running and set to automatic?  If it's not running, set it from automatic to automatic-delayed (it may need more time to start due to slower Windows dependencies not being ready first).  Within the app, in your backup settings under schedule >> advanced, give it an extra minute or 2 there and don't use the "run when idle" option - the system may never actually go idle so it can prevent a backup from running.  See screenshot.

3) What OS are you using?  Winows 8.1 or 10?  If so, do you have hibernation and/or fasboot enabled.  This could be the issue.  Fastboot puts the sysem into hibernation when you shutdown.  Acronis does not handle this properly until late in 2016.  If using 2015 with Win 10, either disable hibernation (which turns off fastboto)... if you have a fast SSD, you shouldn't feel much difference.  Or, you need to reboot more often. Rebootin will trigger a full shutdown which triggers the missed backups if the scheduled backups are set to run when the computer is hibernationg, sleeping or powered off.

4) If it's not behaving well, try a repair install.  Download your installer if you don't have it already.  Right click and "run as administrator" when you launch it (even if logged in as admin already).  Then run the "repair" option and see if that helps.

5) Consider a fresh/clean install and start anew. Follow these cleanup instructions:  https://forum.acronis.com/forum/126092#comment-391779
